There was a
freedom fighter named Alhaj Karim Uddin Ahmed who was extremely dedicated to
his country. Now, I’m giving his short autobiography as a story.
Alhaj Karim Uddin Ahmed who is a renowned person in Lalmonirhat district. He was
born on 19th March in 1923. His father’s name is Moulovi Asim Uddin
Ahmed and Nesabi Beyoa is his mother.
He was born
in a poor farmer family but he progressed his position by his own attempt. At
the early age of his life, he was engaged in business. According to that
source, he enlarged his business of jute and tobacco in Kolkata, Vairab,
Chittagong, Sylhet, Jhalkhathi.
His
education begain at Nilambar Pathshala in Modonpur Bairati School. Then he
passed ‘Khariji’ from Chilakhal Paikan Madrasha in Rangpur. After that he
admitted in to Pakuria Sharif Madeasha. At last, he finished his secondary education from Tusbhander High School.
Now, the
most significant part of his life that. I am going to tell at this time:
In 1954, he
started to work for people by electing member in union board. He also awarded
as “Governor’ because of his dedication to people. In 1970, he elected a member
of east Pakistan regional organization. He is also an actiue worker of Varot
Char Movement. He was also arrested by police for his noble social activities.
Chirongib Kaliganj’ which is the first Shahid Minar of Kaliganj Upazilla was
made by his inspiration.
In 1971,
Alhaj Karim Uddin Ahmed elected president of Kaliganj sangram Porishod. During
our liberation war he also made ‘Muktibahini’ by the combination of EPR, Ansar
and Police. He established it’s head quarter in his living house. At that time
Alhaj Karim Uddin Ahmed hoisted our national flag in the field of Kaliganj
Upazilla. He also worked for teaching the local young boys to participate in
liberation war of Bangladesh. Excepting these work, he also did so many work
directly or indirectly.
He also
signed his name in building so many institutions. Like, in 1959 he established
kaliganj Karim Uddin Public Pilot High School. He is also the founder of Karim
Uddin Primary School, Karimpur Necabia Dakhil Madrasha and orphanaze trast.
Besides, he established RDRS (Rangpur-Dinajpur Rural Sector) in Kaliganj by the
help if Mr. Hudney. It’s activities are managed still now.
In fact
Alhaj Karim Uddin Ahmed was not only a politician but also a cultural-minded
person. He established cultural organization in Kaliganj Upazilla.
After
liberation war he elected a member of parliament of national parliament. He was
very familiar to Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In 1985, he elected
Upazilla chairman in Kaliganj Upazilla. After that, his elder son Mr.
Nuruzzaman Ahmed took place of his politics.
Alhaj Karim Uddin Ahmed died on 28th August in 1991. At that time he was
68 years old.
